Battery power supply

The optional processor-controlled battery power supply for the Trigon Vanguard I, Vanguard II, and VANGUARD III phono preamplifiers.
The Volcano III can be easily retrofitted at any time without any further technical modifications. The Volcano III is inserted between the Vanguard II and the Vanguard II’s floor-standing power supply by connecting it to the Vanguard II’s existing floor-standing power supply on one side and to the Vanguard II on the other using the included special cable.

When using the Volcano III in conjunction with a Vanguard I, a special adapter cable is required between the Volcano III and the Vanguard I.
An external ground power supply is also required, as the Vanguard I’s wall-mounted power supply is not compatible with the Volcano III.

The high-quality Vanguard-design housing made of anodized aluminum and optionally textured-coated or Nextel-coated steel conceals the long-life lead-gel batteries. Operational reliability and ease of use are guaranteed by microprocessor-controlled charging and monitoring. All operating states are relay-controlled via a front-panel button and indicated by a two-color LED display. The Volcano III can power the connected phono preamplifier either in pure mains operation or in combined battery/mains operation.
In combined battery/mains operation, the integrated power supply is connected in parallel to the batteries, meaning the connected amplifier is connected to both the batteries and the mains. To effectively avoid potential interference from the mains supply, the Volcano III can (and should) be switched to combined battery/mains operation while listening to music. In this operating mode, the power supply is supported by the built-in batteries.
